About
I write and teach about money the way I wish someone had explained it to me: slowly, with real numbers, and without pretending any of it is simpler than it is.
My working life is in finance — accounting, budgeting, financial planning and performance reporting, the ordinary and unglamorous work of keeping an organisation solvent. I qualified with the ACCA and have spent years since then in month-end closes, cash forecasts, procurement files and board packs.
Alongside that I teach. Cambridge O Level Accounting and Business Studies, mostly, and ACCA papers when students ask. Teaching changed how I write. Standing in front of someone who is about to sit an exam strips the vocabulary out of you very quickly: if a student cannot repeat the idea back in their own words, the explanation failed, and no amount of correct terminology saves it.
Most people are not bad with money. They were never shown the mechanics, and then were made to feel stupid for not knowing them.
That is the gap HikmaDaily writes into. Cash flow, pricing, profit, tax, debt, spending habits — the things adults are assumed to have picked up somewhere and usually haven't. I write them out in plain English, build each idea around an example you could actually meet, and stop before it turns into a lecture.
What HikmaDaily is
Hikma means wisdom. The name is a reminder of the standard rather than a claim to have met it: say the useful thing, say it honestly, and do not dress it up.
How I write
Examples before definitions. A definition tells you what a word means. An example tells you what happens to a business when the thing goes wrong. The second one sticks.
No false confidence. Where a subject genuinely depends on your own circumstances — tax position, contracts, anything with a regulator attached — I say so and point you to someone qualified to look at your situation rather than guessing on your behalf.
Nothing padded. If a chapter can be six pages instead of twelve, it is six pages.
Both are the same voice. The books go deeper; the email arrives without you having to decide anything.
